First Edition. 8vo. viii,120pp, Index plus 30pp publisher's catalog, followed by 2pp Index. Color frontis and b&w 116 illustration, mostly photographs. Blue cloth, near fine (slight fading to both spine ends). A printed name card of Lady Doxmer (crossed through) mounted on illustrated pastedown, with inked inscription: "With love & very best wishes from Alice Gainsborough Charlie & Maureen. Dj price clipped, spine faded, some fraying and light soil, few short tears. From dj: "first pictorial survey of the Victorian Age to be compiled soley through the medium of photography." Quennell uses these images to illustrate the moral and social background of Victorian London, Family Life, Low Life, Stage, Fashion, and Taste. Jacket designed by Osbert Lancaster. ; Color frontis & 116 illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 120 pages .
