Van Loon creates his own illustrations, diagrams and maps--some b&w, some in color--as he expresses his very personal take on the geography of the world. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on the title page. FIRST EDITION THUS, fourth printing stated. 6 3/8" x 9 1/2", 525 pages (oversized, may require additional postage), with no dust jacket. Overall book is Good Plus. Pages (top edges originally colored, faded to dull green) = Good Plus: first fep separated and laid in, moderately yellowed, corners moderately rubbed, yet remaining pages tight, clear, no marks. Cover (red cloth boards with three colored design box pasted on front, spine particulars rubbed off), entire thoroughly rubbed, yet tight, square, no tearing, chipping or unraveling.
