About This Item

Topeka, Kansas: F.M. Steves & Sons, 1904. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair. Topeka, KS: F.M. Steves & Sons,1904. First edition. 8 1/2 x 6 Inches: pp. 199, 3 pages of ads. Yellow boards with black tape over spine. Octavo. Author and title lettered on spine in white ink, author title embossed in gilt on font board. Frontis portrait of Carry Nation, nine full page photos.

NOTE: READING COPY ONLY: Soiling and stains to cover, title faded. Front hinge cracked. Foxing. A few margin markings, scattered throughout text. Binding fragile. Carry Nation was known to take a hatchet to a saloon in her fight for temperance -- in other words, she would have been rightfully accused of being an anarchist. This is a straightforward memoir, with bible thumping religion, righteous pronouncements about the evils of drink, and a realisic look at the hardships of the times.
