Tables. Footnotes. The United States Army corp commander in World War II was the highest-level officer who was engaged in battle at the front and who concentrated on high-level tactics. He coordinated the use of combined arms on the battlefield. He was in fact the commander who conducted the battle. This paper was origianlly presented at the 1988 Organization of American Historians Annual Meeting. This was reprodueced by the Command and General Staff College by special permission.
