Book clean and square. Bright gilt title over lightly bumped spine, ditto publisher's logo over undamaged original cloth boards. A former owner's stamp on front pastedown, tinted top edge, else textblock unmarked. Illustrated dustjacket minimally edgeworn, and has a small puncture in the gutter of rear panel. From 1956 the author, Professor Donald W Lathrap (b.1927-d.1990), pursued a long-term program of research into the cultural and ethnographic history of the Peruvian Amazon. This is his story . . .
