About This Item

Philadelphia: Stackpole Books, 1998. "Unsinkable" offers a fresh look at the sinking of the historic Titanic on her maiden voyage in 1912. It centers on the people who built it, crewed her and sailed on her and continues with the sinking. The story doesn't end there, however, for the story continues through the high drama of the U.S. Senate investigation and the British Board of Trade inquiry, then introduces the mystery ship "Californian" whose officers watched Titanic sink and did nothing for fear of being subjected to their sleeping Captain's wrath. The narrative carries on with the recovery on many of Titanic's dead and their interment at Halifax, Nova Scotia, through the discovery of the wreck in 1985, and finally to the abortive 1996 expedition to raise a section of her rusted hull. Illustrated with b/w photographs. Map endpapers. Dust jacket illustration by C. Scott Bragg.. ISBN: 0-8117-1814-X. First Edition, Third Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Nautica + History + Shipwrecks + Titanic Steamship + Steamships + North Atlantic Ocean + Ocean Disasters + Voyages + Halifax Nova Scotia. Catalogs: Nautica.
