About This Item

London: Cassell and Company Ltd,, 1942. Uncorrected proof copy of the second volume of Churchill's wartime speeches. The proof is very similar to the published version, the chief difference being the absence of plates. The copy is from the collection of Churchill's bibliographer Ronald Cohen, with his ownership inscription in pencil on the front free endpaper. Cohen's Bibliography of the Writings of Sir Winston Churchill, published in three volumes in 2006, is the authoritative source for collectors, librarians, and dealers. Octavo. Original grey wrappers printed in black. A little light wear at extremities, wrappers a little soiled. A very good copy. Cohen A172.1 (first published edition).
