Jean Riolan was a 17th-century French physician known for being Marie de Medici's personal doctor. His medical studies were most closely related to those of William Harvey, especially pertaining to blood circulation. One of his most important medical treatises was his "Universal Medicine Compendium" in which he defined the physiological make up and functions of body systems and the effects of medicine the body.
