About This Item

Mays Landing, New Jersey; (1944): Open Road Press. First Edition. Octavo. 265 pages, signed by the author, bibliography, index. A leading leftist thinker on how a united world that would dissolve national political goals might achieve a united world. Many conservatives labelled this line of thinking as "world federalism". When the United Nations was formed, many of its proponents believed this would bring a peaceful world. Scott Nearing's thought is close to the heart of the idealism of both the old left and the newer versions of liberalism. Before he died at age 100, he was one of the voices on Warren Beatty's Reds where he reminisced about his time with John Reed. Bound in blue cloth, lettering gilt spine gilt lettered, spine faded, and gilt lettering faded as well as title on upper board, minimal wear to spine ends. A very good copy.
