About This Item
Good+ Book in Fair DJ now in protective Mylar. The DJ is rubbed with closed tears and creases primarily along edges. Gold color decorations rubbed to reveal white based of DJ. DJ is price clipped. The book is in very good condition with soiled, foxed front and rear paste downs. No internal markings. Text block tight. Dated to circa 1960, this is a re-issue of the 1879 original which was first published by wood-block engraver and printer, Edmund Evans. This copy predates Penguin which bought Frederick Warne & Co., Ltd. in the early 80s. Includes over 60 color Illustrations and poems by the author (1846 - 1901). The book was extremely popular due to Greenaway's depiction of children in imaginary 18th-century costumes in a Queen Anne style.
