First edition second issue. 8vo, xvi, 256pp, xxxii pp. 85, photos by Matthiessen & Michael Rockefeller, and other members of the Harvard-Peabody Expedition to New Guinea in 1961. The authors third book with the illustrations split into two sections. Rockefeller was later to die in New Guinea, and the magnificent ethnographical art wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is dedicated to him. Original price of $7.50 printed on FFE. Not a Book Club copy. Original black cloth boards, black printed dj very slightly rubbed at spine extremes, sml. closed chip in rear panel. The photographic portraits are quite stunning.
