Portland, Maine: Thomas B. Mosher, 1899. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. First American Edition. No dust jacket. LIMITED EDITION of only 450 copies. Publishers deckled page edges. A tight text block, clean copy, with faint damp stain to several margins (does not detract)., Very minor margin edge red 'bleed' to tip top edges of a few pages. Does not detract. Exterior blue paper over boards are 'cracked' - but tight - at outer spine hinge, with just a bit of paper pulled away (but present). See photo. Three small brown stains (approx 1' in all) on front board. Complete paper title label intact on spine. Was originally issued in 1872 as a pamphlet in reply to Robert Buchanan's "Fleshly Controversy/"Fleshly School of Poetry'. INCLUDED in this volume is Buchanan's reply "The Monkey And The Microscope" and then 'Buchanan's Apologia'. Protected in a mylar slip. A interesting Vintage literary 'fluff'. 97 pages.
