New York: E. P. Dutton & Co, 1917. First American Edition. This is a first American edition. Measuring approximately 7.5" x 5.25" with 358 numbered pages.

This book is in good plus condition. Moderate bumping and tearing to both ends of spine. Moderate sunning and creasing on spine. Moderate foxing on all edges of textblock. Front hinge cracked exposing mesh. Moderate foxing throughout textblock.

Although it is fiction, the novel was based on Barbusse's experiences as a French soldier on the Western Front. It was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 1916.
