Title on front board "Under the Deodars etc." 328 p., clean and unmarked; paper still strong though mildly age-toned, with some slightly darker areas on end pages. Binding firm. Gilt lettering on green front board showing blind stamped image of Viking ship in full sail is bright, lettering on spine is clear. Corners show some bumping and there is light rubbing at crown foot of spine panel. No d.j. paper still strong though mildly age-toned, with somewhat darker areas on end pages. Colophon on copyright page shows signature of Rudyard Kipling (holograph) with swastika symbol--in pre-Nazi days associated with India.
