Hard cover, 16mo (measuring 5 ⅛ x 7 ½ inches) in blue publisher's cloth with titles and harp logo in gilt to front and spine, top edge gilt, on laid paper, 112 pp. The Philadelphia-born poet Florence Van Leer Earle Coates (1850-1927) came from a family of abolitionists and philanthropists. This mid-career volume was published in the same period she was regularly contributing to titles such as Atlantic Monthly, The Century Magazine and The Lippincott Magazine. Her family entertained various Roosevelt relatives at their Adirondak summer house. Later, she would publish more patriotic verse in response to WWI. Condition: Very Good Plus. Ghosting to p.3, slight crumple to foot of spine. A few neat pencilled quotations at rear. Otherwise very clean, crisp and bright. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus.
