About This Item
Controversial British journalist and author. TNS, 1p, 5¼" X 7", Robertsbridge, Sussex, England, 6 April 1973. Addressed to Earl G. Hunt Jr. Near fine. On personal letterhead of his "Park Cottage" home, Muggeridge sends "many thanks for your most encouraging and helpful letter. I greatly appreciated hearing from you, and will be delighted if there is ever a chance of our meeting." Bold signature in black ink. Muggeridge helped bring fame to Mother Teresa and public attention to Catholic theology later in life with his books "Jesus Rediscovered" (1969), "Paul, Envoy Extraordinary" (1972) and several other religious titles. It was no doubt these books that prompted Hunt (1918-2005), Resident Bishop of the United Methodist Church in the U.S., a noted theologian and president of Emory and Henry College, to write Muggeridge.
