This is a memoir of Vikram Seth's aunt's and uncle's lives from the 1930s till the end of the last century--An Indian uncle--a dentist in London after the war--and his German Jewish wife and the trials they faced and the love they shared throughout their lives. He lived with them in suburban London for several years as a young man. He is a great writer.
