About This Item
Toronto: William Briggs, 1903. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Author. Cover has some fraying at corners and top/bottom spine. Spine is slightly discoloured with a 1.5 cm tear in upper back corner, also a small dab of paint? In lower front corner. Beautiful gift inscription in ink on FFEP (dated Xmas 1903) as well a "please return" stamp. Hinges good. Pg 192 has a 3" tear at gutter and adjacent plate was badly repaired from an earlier tear. A wonderful book by an author that can take his place as a true naturalist (like Muir and Thoreau) and who instigated a movement that was a precursor to Powel's Scout movement. Illustrations by the author. Indexed. First Canadian Edition.
