Pioneer Publishing Company, 1941. Hardcover. Very Good Plus. Second Edition , limited to 3,000 thousand copies . Lyon was sold at auction as a youth to pay his passage to America . He ended up in the hands of the Governor of Vermont , bought his freedom with the payment of two bulls , and married the Governor's daughter . He served in the Congress for four years from Vermont and for eight years from Kentucky . He then made his way to Missouri and Arkansas and ran for Congress in both states . He failed in Missouri but was elected as Arkansas' first Congressman . Unfortunately , he died on his way to Washington to represent his third state in the House . This biography of Lyon and Jackson in one volume is a fasinting story . The book is dedicated to Champ Clark who admired both men . Dust jacket is protected with a mylar cover .
