About This Item
Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott Company, 1973. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/Near fine. The 13th Travis McGee and the first in the series that was issued first in hardcover.
287 pages. First edition (stated). A near fine hardcover copy (page edges tanned) in a price-clipped dust jacket with minor chipping at the edges and small tape repairs on the back (verso).
According to Firsts Magazine (Nov. 2002), almost all copies of the first printing dust jacket are price-clipped, probably because the price was incorrectly printed on the jacket. The first printing jackets have the code 1073 at the top of the front flap of the jacket, as this copy has. NB: The fourth printing jackets also have this code, but were not price-clipped. It is hard to tell a married 4th printing jacket from the correct first printing jackets. However, this copy is very neatly clipped, probably by a machine, which suggests it is likely the jacket that originally came on this first printing.
