New York: An HR (Henry Robbins) book, for E.P. Dutton, 1977. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. The author's fourth novel, being the basis for the 1981 film of the same name that was directed by Ulu Grosbard; it starred Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall and was co-written with Joan Didion. L.A. murder mystery with corrupt homicide detectives and Catholic Church duplicity thrown in for good measure. Fine-looking, structurally sound hardcover, little discernible wear to the green cloth over boards, sharp and distinct gilt lettering to spine, bright interior, unmarked, though with a faint vertical crease to final free endpaper and previous owner's embossed stamp at title page. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, little worn, protected by a plastic coat. Stated First Edition, First Printing, with "1" in "number" line present. 341 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
