About This Item

Deya, Majorca: The Seizin Press, 1930. Rubbing and wear to binding, small loss at head of spine. Small folio (283 x 210 mm). [6], 27 pages. Quarter cream calf, gilt-decorated paper cover boards. First edition, one of 200 copies signed by Len Lye (this copy unnumbered), hand-set and printed on hand-made paper by Robert Graves and Laura Riding, and issued as Seizin 4. Three rubbings on a separate sheet are loosely inserted at p. 2 (with pale associated offsetting) possibly made my Lye, who also was responsible for the design and execution of the cover. Seizin Press was founded in 1927 and operated until 1935. It published works by Gertrude Stein, Honor Wyatt and James Reeves, ceasing publication at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. Lye, a New Zealand artist known primarily for his experimental films and kinetic sculpture, was also known for his large number of letters and poems. No Trouble was drawn from his letters to Riding and Graves, and his mother.
