The first edition of this celebrated collection of poems from American novelist and poet Elinor Wylie, inscribed to Italian-born British poet, man of letters and civil servant Humbert Wolfe. With the author's inscription to the front endpaper reading 'Humbert Wolfe from Elinor Wylie 28-VII-28-'.Published shortly before Wylie's death, this work was praised by her biographer as 'the work of a poet in transition. At times the craftsman is uppermost; at times the creative genius'. In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Light discolouration to back strip, with shelf wear to back strip head and tale. Inscribed to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd spot. Very Good Indeed
