Hardcover. 4to (10.25 x 8 x 2.75"), half black morocco over marbled boards, gilt raised bands, spine in 5 compartments, t.e.g., edges uncut. 749 pp., numerous b&w illus., early bookseller's description affixed to front paste-down, envelope with 1887 news clipping in it affixed to front pastedown. CONDITION: Good +, rubbing with loss at extremities, 1 detached plate, but an appealing copy. First edition. Includes the sometimes missing "Parsonage at Ovingham" plate tipped onto p. 713.
