Bound in full mottled calf a bit of damp-staining on front fore edge; gilt titling on an affixed label. Bindings are tight and square. Text clean, The text is clean though toned. Moderate shelf handling wear with rubbing on the edges. 8vo; 8.75 inches tall; 152 pages with called for folding charts at the rear. 14th Edition Revised and Enlarged by the Addition of Articles on the Theodolite, Leveling and Topography.. John Gummere though self-taught was one of the most eminent mathematicians of during the late 18th and early 19th century in the United States. He was a keen astronomer and one of the founders of Haverford College in Pennsylvania. His surveying Treatise was an influential book for civil engineering.
