With Considerable Additions. London: Printed by A. Strahan, for J. Butterworth, 1808. Two volumes. lv, [1], 582; xxiv, 302 pp. Octavo (8" x 5-1/2"). Contemporary calf, blind fillets to boards, raised bands, lettering pieces and blind-stamped volume numbers to spines. Light rubbing and a few minor nicks and scuffs to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, a few worm holes to rear board of Volume II, a small crack and faint stain to the center of its spine near foot, front joint of Volume I cracked, rear joints starting, corners bumped, early armorial bookplate (of William Money Kyrle) to front pastedown of each volume. Moderate toning to interiors, light foxing in a few places. $750. * Second edition. One of the principal sources for the early 19th century British poor law, this was the standard reference on the subject for some thirty years. Speaking of this branch of literature, Holdsworth held it in high regard. First published in 1805 and went through three more editions the last in 1825. All are scarce. OCLC locates 8 copies of the second edition in North American law libraries (Harvard, Georgetown, UC-Berkeley, UC-Davis, University of Georgia, Villanova, Yale, York).
