About This Item
London: J. J. Stockdale, 1815. First Edition. Full Morocco. Very Good. 4to. 28 by 21 cm. vii, errata, xiv, [2], 17-460 pp. 20 hand-colored plates of landscapes, buildings, costume. 2 full-page b/w maps. Several other b/w illustrations. All plates present, but not in identical order to Abbey 286, with "Flying Mountain", for example, in text, not frontis. Contemporary full red morocco, with old rebacking, original spine laid on. Veining and darkening to spine, and scuffing to boards, but binding remains, nonetheless, attractive. Moderate offsetting, as the norm with this book, since the publisher did not employ tissue guards. Other age toning and occasional light soiling to the text and plates.
