About This Item
Albany: Printed And Sold By Pratt & Doubleday, 1814. Hard Cover. xxii, [23]-404 p.; 8vo. First published London, 1727. Scottish born, the Chevalier was converted to Catholicism by Fenelon; this book, ostensibly about pagan Persians, is like the Telemaque, which it imitates, a philosophical guide to life. This is the first American edition. American Imprints 32604. Very good copy, paper foxed, in a very good contemporary full leather binding, no tooling, with red leather label. Stock#OB011.
