John Murray, 1950. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG++/G+. COSTA, A. 1st Edition, 1st Printing. 14.5 x 22 cm green cloth with gilt stamped titles and vignette to the spine, xi[i] 403(1)pp with frontispiece and 48 pages of photographic illustrations by A Costa and a double page map on heavy green stock by H W Hawes. In original unclipped jacket priced at 21s. net. Clean unrubbed boards. Internally there is an ownership name on the front free endpaper and just a couple of very faint spots on the very edge of the text block. The dust jacket which is now protected in a removable, clear cover (not shown) is a little battered. It has a chip of 3.5 x 1.5 cm on the top edge of the front panel and of 5 x 1 cm extending from the centre of the spine to the back panel. There are closed tears of 1 -1.5 cm on the top corners and lower joints with minimal loss and a 1 cm tear along the bottom edge of the front panel. All in all a very nice copy of Fermor's 1st book.
