Guatemala [City]: E. Goubaud & Cía, 1896. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. According to the introduction, this is the first treatise on the law of extradition to be written in Spanish. The author, the son of a Mexican newspaper owner and an American mother, obtained his law degree in San Francisco and practiced there (while becoming a naturalized American citizen) before he followed his father into the Mexican diplomatic service. He published this book while stationed in Guatemala.

xii, 252 pages. Uncommon. First edition (first printing). Bound in quarter leather and marbled paper by Aviles Siguere & Co. in Guatemala City. With a one-inch diameter surface scar on the front board. Inscribed by Godoy: "Al Excmo. Sr. Dr. D. Roberto Lowenthal, etc. etc. etc. Con afectuosos recuerdos de su hospitalidad y simpático país. José F. Godoy.
