Front endpapers depict map of Pennsylvania and New York and rear endpapers showcase first settlements in Southern Ontario Counties. Previous owner's small signature on front loose endpape in blue ink. Half title included. G. Elmore Reaman's signature on title page in black ink. 11 B./W illustrations on 6 plates and 6 B/W maps and charts on 4 plates. 5 appendices, a bibliography and an index. Some minor darkening to spine and bottom edge of boards. No damage to boards or spine. Very clean internally. A very good, signed first edition copy of this 1957 novel. George Elmore Reaman's 1957 novel primarily details the history of the Pennsylvania Germans and local communities in their roles in the settlement of Ontario. This novel records a plethora of contributing and surrounding communities, giving justice to the hard work foundational to Ontario as we know it today. Foreword by Thomas B. Costain, a Nod from Pennsylvania by Arthur D. Graeff, and a preface by the author. 1957
