Boards have moderate shelf wear, with rubbing and marking. Light bumping to corners and crushing to spine ends. Boards are slightly bowed. Unclipped jacket has light edge wear with minor tears and chipping. Moderate tanning and creasing, with rubbing and marking.

This absorbing account of the town (hill fort) of Maiden Castle shows there is no evidence of Roman occupation of the hilltop beyond the battle at the eastern gate, and a lone hermit-like temple or chapel of an apparently decadent Pagan religion. Situated on the outskirts of Dorchester, Dorset, this is an interesting town, and the author provides an interesting history.
