London: Ackermann and Co., and Thomas Tegg, 1844. Original Cloth. Very Good. Octavo. Pp. xii, 360, richly illustrated throughout with engraved frontispiece, title-page, 27 initial letters, 45 text illustrations (some used as tail-pieces), and 6 plates with captions. Goldenrod textured cloth with elaborate gilt-frames to both upper and lower covers surrounding a gilt design of Syntax on his horse by a sign-post, gilt illustrated spinestrip, all edges gilt Covers lightly soiled, spine darkened with spine-ends started, half inch closed tear to upper front joint. Overall, a very good, clean, tight copy.
