About This Item
London: W. Lee, D. Pakeman and Gabrieled Bedell, 1651. Leather. Fair. 8.5" by 6.5". None. A second edition of this work by William Sheppard. Collated: Complete. William Sheppard was an English barrister known as a legal writer. Sheppard wrote several legal and religious works. The Touchstone is the earliest work devoted tot he theory of conveyancing . Sheppard's claim of authorship has been controversial in the past, with many scholars believing it to be the work of Sir John Dodderidge for his own personal use. The treatise was an immediate success when first published in 1648 and is still high esteemed. Disbound with calf boards and backstrip intact. Externally worn with loss to backstrip. Dampstaining and bumping to boards. Internally, binding strained. Pages generally bright and clean with some spots and age toning. Fair
