Sm 8vo (7.75" x 5.25"), 2 frontis. ports., vi, [2], [1]-405 pp., 3 b&w plates (1 plate glued-in opposite p. 264 instead of p. 248 as cited in List of Illustrations). CONDITION: Good, spine somewhat sunned and cocked, cracked inside hinges but binding sound and intact. First edition, later printing. Inscribed by Jewett in pencil on the flyleaf: "A Red Cover for Mr. Emerson from his friend the writer." REFERENCE: BAL 10914.
