Unbound. Near Fine. Sixth plate tintype. Contemporary tooled leather case. Image shows some modest evidence of having been cleaned, but is otherwise fine. The case (which may have been supplied at an earlier date) is separated at the spine and rubbed, the clasp and hook closure are present. Two seated baseball players in identical uniforms, with small neckties with slight red tint. One player, with a mustache holds a baseball, while the other, cleanshaven, holds a thin handled bat. Examined out of case, but no obvious identifying marks. Provenance suggests the location is somewhere in the Northeastern U.S. The bat and neckwear suggests a date of about 1875. A pleasing image.
