About This Item
New York, 9 April 1966 and 1966.. Two items. First item: quarto (28 x 21.5 cm), mechanically reproduced typescript, printed on recto only, with horizontal fold. Second item: folio broadside (38 x 34 cm), printed on recto only, folded to six panels. Very, very faint tanning at edges and folds, essentially fine. The first item is a cover letter and solicitation of assistance and financial support for the Leary Defense Fund, on printed letterhead, signed in type by Diane di Prima and Allen Ginsberg. However, the text is all di Prima's, according to Dowden. The second item is a large broadside summarizing the case, printing an abbreviated bibliography of Leary's scholarly publications along with a list of prominent supporters, promoting a forthcoming lecture by Leary in New York, and including a form for contributing to the fund and requesting a leaflet about the Castalia Foundation.
