London: Faber and Faber, 1949. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Good Only. 7.5" by 5". None. A smart first edition of the first chronological novel in the Strangers and Brothers series from C. P. Snow, signed by the author. First edition. Signed by the author to the front endpaper. The first chronological novel in the Strangers and Brothers series. A novel depicting the beginning of Lewis Eliot's life, with a childhood in poverty in a small English town at the beginning of the twentieth century. Written by Charles Percy Snow, an English novelist and physical chemist who served in several important positions in the British Civil Service and the UK government. In the original orange cloth binding. Externally, smart with light wear and fading to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is worn with loss to the front panel and spine. Repairs made with paper pasted to the internal side. Closed tears to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and the odd mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning. Contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown with author's signature to the front endpaper. Very Good
