Front wrapper lists the proposed price and proposed publication date. This proof copy does not have the illustrations and maps that were in the final published work. "First Printed 1967" on copyright page. "Although naturally in early discussions our thoughts had ranged over the whole field of the Andes, the Himalayas and elsewhere in Central Asia, Afghanistan had always attracted us especially - for the Hindu Kush, that great mountain range, part of the backbone of Asia running westwards from the remote regions where the Himalayas and the Karakorum meet the Pamir, had enormous pull for us." - page 11. ; 8vo .
