Moderate soil to cloth; top edge and foredge of boards rubbed, the latter rubbed through; a bit of thumbing to title & copyright pages. Healdsburg, California born Mary Bamford, contrary to many in her day, is considered to have been sympathetic to the Chinese wanting to enter the United States. One of her many other publications was Angel Island: the Ellis Island of the West. .
