A limited edition first issue of this account of a travelling botanist, with illustrations by John O'Connor. A Limited Edition, first issue. This is number 139 of 550 copies printed. In full blue cloth binding with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Printed on handmade paper. Illustrated with nine engravings by John O' Connor. Collated complete. The work of Christopher Sandeman, an explorer and botanist who travelled widely in the Andes in search of rare plants. This work is described by the publisher as 'better described as a rhapsody than an essay [...] expresses with the feeling of a poet the underlying source of his passion'. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelf wear. The original unclipped dust wrapper is in smart condition. Spine is darkened and spotting to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean. Many pages in the book are uncut, including the title page and limitations page. Near Fine
