John Lehmann was general manager of the Hogarth Press (1938–46), founded by Leonard and Virginia Woolf. In this book, he provides a richly illustrated, critical biography of Virginia Woolf, describing her activities, her social and literary relationships, and her personality and character, and assessing her major writings.
