Colour frontispiece, and 26 colour plates and 2 folding maps. Inscription on front endpaper. Mild rubbing to boards. near fine The journal entries of Lieutenant James W. Abert, who recorded life in the early American West. Also included are a number of his paintings and sketches made during his second western journey. This copy was previously owned by Tim Auger (member of First Canadian Everest Expedition in 1982). He signed his name on front free endpaper. 1970
