Brown cloth hardcover with gilt title and illustration on the front cover. Title on the spine. Floral end sheets. The front and rear hinges are cracked and were repaired at one point with tissue. The front floral end sheets are edge chipped. Previous owner name of James R. Down, Utica New York written on the right front flyleaf, twice on the verso of the frontispiece, and on the rear end paper. Name of F. M. Down, Indpls written on the front paste down. Light scattered foxing and toning to the contents. Includes graphic accounts of the siege of Fort Ridgely, battles of Birch Coolie, Wood Lake, Big Mound, Stony Lake, Dead Buffalo Lake and Missouri River.
