Iquluit NWT Canada: North Winds, 1999. First Edition . Cloth. Fine/Fine. First Edition. 155pp, 31 color photos, 6 appendices. black cloth, lavender gilt lettering cover & spine. NEW in New Dust Jacket (I bought this in person from McNair and asked her to sign it). SIGNED b y Author on title page. She was the leader of the first all women?s (no men at all) expedition to the Geographic North Pole. 20 women worked in relays (but author stayed on the entire way) for 80 days & 416 nautical miles, skiing & sledge-hauling, and reached the Pole 26 May 1997. Denise Martin, assistent leader, was the first Canadian woman to reach the Pole on foot. Detailed appendices listing e quipment, itinerary, menus, etc. useful for planning such an expedition.
