This detailed history of the development of the automatic pistol is recognized as the standard study of the subject. There is an extensive chapter on ammunition, giving details of performances and velocities and the problems associated with the compatibility of various rounds with specific mechanisms. This edition is reprinted from the 1943 edition with new material and photographs. Bound in maroon paper covered boards, spine lettering gilt, a very good copy in somewhat edge worn and chipped pictorial dust jacket.
