Sewn binding. Signed, dated, and numbered by the artist. Lise Melhorn-Boe: "The text of 'Mending' is a poem by the American poet Hazel Hall. Hall was born in 1886, and lived for most of her life in Portland, Oregon. Following a bout of Scarlet Fever, at the age of 12, she was confined to a wheelchair. Hall took in sewing to help with the family finances, and 'Mending' is one of thirty-three poems she wrote about needlework.  "The cover of each copy of the book is a pair of pants, or chorts, or, in one case, a short denim skirt. The first page is a collared shirt, the second a piece of household textile. Next follows a nightgown or pair of pyjama pants, and the last page is a T-shirt. Most of the garments came from friends and family.

Dirk Hagner: "This a vertical accordion book … features a quote from William Butler Yeats: 'I have spread my dreams under your feet; tread softly for you tread on my dreams.' "The back of this piece folds into a horizontal triangle that acts like a stand-off when the book is pinned through aligned eyelet holes to a wall - its intended way of display.

The text is rubber-stamped and the images colour-copied. There are five very simple pop-ups. Tall tales and (possibly) true stories told to Lise Melhorn-Boe as a child are combined to create a fairy-tale version of her father's immigration to Canada, presented as a quest for food. The pages get more colourful and dimensional as the story progresses.  Lise Melhorn Boe: "My father grew up during World War I in Germany, the third youngest of nine. So he remembered not having enough to eat. He was a good storyteller, so I've just put together a number of his tales. The photos are all really of him and his family. Several techniques were used depending upon the method each book artist chose. These varied from letterpress printing and xerox transfer to ink-jet, laser, and/or silkscreen printing. A collaborative series of eight artists books created by one poet and eight artists. Each unique book illustrates a different poem by Michele Wong.

Five rare Junacae in Maine are the subject of this Threatened and Endangered Species book (Alpine rush; Slender rush; Vassey rush; Northern wood-rush; Spiked wood-rush). The pale ink on paper imitates the color and value of the cast shadows produced by he cutaways.
