[7.25x4.75in]; [3], 4-344 pp., Illustration of Albatross on title page, fold out map of A Sketch of the Columbia River, and adjacent Country, in text illustration of Chenook Canoe, appendix "A Specimen of Indian Dialects" of several Oregon tribes; Rebacked with new spine, later mottle tree calf covers and red morocco spine label, gilt lettering on spine label with gilt rules, gilt borders on front and back, appears to be original end papers, all edges trimmed with speckled brown ink; Some shelf wear to cover edges and corners with minor rubbing and scrapes to covers, corners worn and bumped, some uniform age toning to text with foxing spots, binding glue offset shadows to end papers, Green Dragon Bindery, Shrewsbury, MA stamp on rear end paper.[Howes L197, Wagner-Camp 111, Wheat Trans-Miss 484, Smith 5800]. An early account of the history of Oregon and establishing Methodist Episcopal missions in the Willamette Valley. Also contains a description by Lee, who accompanied Nathaniel Wyeth's 1834 expedition to Oregon to establish trade in the Columbia basin and assisted the first group of Methodist missionaries.
