Sage-green cloth-covered boards (7 3/4" x 5 1/4") with teal binding, spine-lettered in gilt. Woodcut image paste-on to front board with design (black and white with red border and black-and-red lettering) consisting of an Eagle, an Elephant and a Lion (images repeated at bottom of front and rear endpapers), with cone-laden Pine branches and bracken. Frontis photo of a bespectacled Kipling. Paper is a lovely laid bond, lettering is light green with red borders. Decorated drop-caps to each section. Binder's mark: "Powers & Stein, Designers & Printers"

Moderate rubbing to extremities, light soiling, and a small (3/4") red stain to rear board, near spine, at center. Text is unmarked. Binding solid, sound. Poem selection includes "Recessional", "The Vampire", "Tommy", "Fuzzy Wuzzy", "Belts", "Danny Deever", "The Betrothed", "Mandalay", "Gunga Din", "The Undertaker's Horse"

Ten Gems from Kipling, a collection of poetry by Rudyard Kipling, in the original quarter cloth binding and paper covered boards. A scarce work with only one copy held in libraries.Illustrated with two monochrome plates. Collated, complete. A printing anomaly, with many pages left blank except for the page numbers, borders, and headers. This includes pages 4-6, 10-12, 16, 17, 23, 28, 29, 34, 35, 40, 41, 48, 49, 56-58, 64, 65, and 70-72.  In the original quarter cloth binding and paper covered boards. Externally, sound. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some wear to the boards. The front hinge is slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. A printing anomaly with various pages left blank. Good
