This is a delightful book in which you will find 13 unique and colorful party plans drawn from traditional and lesser known celebrations of cultures around the world. The introduction offers helpful tea guides, table settings and additional information and lore. The tea partys are organized by the months of the year; the 13th is a Winter Soltice Tea. Each contains offers back ground information, suggested menus and things to make and do to enrich the festivity. Throughout the book are Carolyn Bucha's beautiful watercolors offering inspiration and enjoyment. Example: September "Literary Tea" suggests a pre-read of Truman Capote's The Grass Harp. the simple centerpiece reminds us of the 18th century bookish society ladies (such a fun idea!) There is even a suggestion for music, discussion and of course a lovely but simple menu of teas, savories, sandwiches and sweets. Each party offers at least one recipe. ; 7.9 X 7.5 X 0.5 inches; 64 pages .
